A cavity-drain approach can manage water to a suitable outlet or sump rather than relying only on a barrier.

Important limitation

Waterproofing performance depends on continuity, preparation and details. Applying a product to the visible patch may simply move the water elsewhere. Below-ground work should follow a risk-based design approach and include access, drainage and maintenance considerations where relevant.

What is the difference between damp proofing and waterproofing?

Damp proofing generally controls moisture movement without necessarily resisting significant water pressure. Waterproofing is designed for water ingress risks and may need to withstand or manage pressure.

Can waterproof paint stop a leak?

A coating may be one component of a suitable system, but active leaks, joints, cracks, pressure and substrate condition must be addressed.

Do you waterproof basements?

Yes. Basements require a dedicated assessment because below-ground structures can be exposed to groundwater and need a maintainable system suited to their intended use.

Can work be completed from inside?

Sometimes. The correct internal approach depends on access, construction and water risk. External repairs may still be necessary where defects are accessible.

Will the room be ready to decorate immediately?

The waterproofing specification, background moisture and finishing system determine when finishes can be applied.
